Clarence Ford: poaching and the 'punk' lily
Where most clivia species — otherwise known as bush lilies — get a touch of the vapours outside of a cool, damp forest understory, the ‘punk’ lily can take a 45°C day on the chin. But the remarkable miracle clivia (Clivia mirabilis) is being poached to the edge of extinction from its home, a single gorge on the Bokkeveld Plateau in the Northern Cape, South Africa.
